Yesterday morning after a Father’s Day celebration

Happy Father's Day to all the good dads out there*.

Alastair, Jeff, Nick, Nora, Gorby and I hopped into the car and hopped onto a ferry.

Someone really, really liked the ferry.

We hopped off of the ferry and onto the Isle of Wight. We landed at Cowes

and started driving. I love the Isle of Wight. I’d live there if it weren’t completely and totally impractical from virtually every perspective.

Once there, the day became about family and relaxation.

The boys played in the sea near the duvers.

Others weren’t so sure.

But someone really, really liked having their feet in the water.

So much so that we compared feet a lot, to endless babble.

We stayed in the water together for a while.

Until my little boy decided to join us. And I really, really liked being there with both of my babies, Alastair and Jeff playing with Gorby in the surf, the sun out, nowhere to go and nothing to do.

My babies and I

And I had a lovely, lovely day.

PS-kitten has been named. He’s now MacArthur, which we’re all pretty happy with.

  • What a beautiful day. I love the look of peace that surrounds your face.

And I like kitty’s name, too. Cute!!

A perfect famliy trip, beautiful snapshots! The water seems a little too cold, although I certainly would have joined Gorby.

Ooh, looks blissful! Hope you all had a great time! (Can you send some of that sunshine over to NY please? We’re going on 3 weeks of rain now!)

Looks like a perfect day … I love that gorby came with you! how did Maggie and MacArthur get on home alone?

Nora’s toes are the same shape as yours! Not surprising I guess, but having raised sons, I got a kick out of seeing the resemblance between mother and daughter.

  • That sure looked like quality time well spent on Father’s Day as a family. And holy crap, was that Jeff in the photo with Alastair and Gorby? How tall he’s gotten! Whatever happened to that cute little guy you used to blog about?

  • Awwww…looks like a LOVELY day. We just ate bbq until we wanted to barf. Your day was much more productive!

What an amazing day – one that will make your heart sing when you think of it in years to come!! xx

  • beautiful pics of a beautiful family. Thanks for sharing.

  • Absolutely fabulous photos! Did you pack a professional photographer along with you on the trip?

  • As a grandmother, cat-lover, mom, et. al…and loving all the pics…

Nothing made me happier than the sight of Gorby so friggin’ happy.

Remembering how scared he was when you got him. What a long way he has come. Due to all the love he has now.

    Makes me smile. Big. :)

  • You all look happy and relaxed – happy father’s day!
I couldn’t help smiling at how Jeff and Dad walk the EXACT same way! Love it!

In the last photo, girl you are gorgeous…I am delurking from years to say I love your family..I have a “Gorby” pup myself…how lucky are we?..Mine is Wally..we get stopped every where because he’s so cute and so sweet..I have a window licker as well named Mack (a rat terrier) and a kitty named Leah..I am a magnet for the lost, homeless and needy in the animal world and I would have more if I could..I also went thru the infertility treatments, they didn’t take..Just wanna say I admire you in so many ways, truely..

I’m not going to lie. I’m going to accidentally call him McBeth a lot. With a “Mc” and not a “Mac.” He’ll have to excuse me on that count, largely because “Scotland, PA” is such a badass movie.

The Isle of Whatsit seems like a blast, though I’m not a big sea/sand person (totally empathise with that picture of Nick). As a Yank, though, I have to say that Cape Cod still beats England any day of the week…that’s right, our Yarmouth is better than your Yarmouth. Oh snap!
